Dennis Whitling Resigns!

If nothing else, Ted Triebel appears to have a flair for the dramatic.

He waited until the very last moment to read a letter from ex-Chair Dennis Whitling announcing his resignation from the Orange County Board of Education. I can only suppose that the allegations he stole nearly $60,000 from his former employer aren't just going away.

If I didn't know this Board better, I would never be so cynical as to assume the announcement was intentionally made after the press had left the meeting. But, after watching this group for nearly an entire year, I am not naive enough to believe the timing was a coincidence.

I am so glad I attended tonight's Board meeting, and even happier I stayed to the very end. It appears that is when the most interesting things happen.

In addition to Dennis' resignation letter, had I left early, I would have missed Liz Brown's attempt to get the Superintendent to use "any means available" to shut down this blog. I would have hated to have my ears burning all night and not know why.

Wow, what a night! What can they do next time to top this?

I got a great idea for Liz to use to shut the blog down: use common sense and stop harassing HES! If the Board members would use their hearts and brains, we would not be in this mess right now. The only reason why I feel for Liz is because of her children. I would hate for my children to realize that people did not like me because of my stupidity. I would hate for my children to realize that I have a tendency to lie. I would hate it for my children to realize that my cold heart and lack of logic made people dream of the day that I leave office.

Do you have video of her asking to shut down this blog? I'd love to see that!

I think the most aggravating thing about Liz is that she is so in love with herself. She still thinks that we are a bunch of idiots and that she is the only enlightened one.

She doesn't get that her actions and her words do not support education yet she believes herself to be the only one who gets it.

Did the other board members have anything to say in response to Liz's commment?
This woman is amazing at the things she says in open meeting as an elected official. Good job, Liz!! Now we have even more recorded commnets of your attitude towards your constituents.

My question would be to Liz Brown how would the school system go about shutting down this blog? Shall we violate first amendment rights - freedom of speech? What exactly is this school board coming to when they not only disregard the laws, but openly admit to wanting to censor parents??

I guess you can say this blog is truly succeeding in its mission if Liz Brown is so bothered by its very existince. Ironically, that is the very same feeling I have about her place on our Board of Education! Way to go HES Bloggers!!

Having attended last night's meeting and witnessing Terrible Ted invite parents to leave at several different times during the meeting it is clear that he waited as long as he could before reading the resignation of Dennis "The Menace" Whitling. If the BOE had any desire to operate with "full and complete transparency" they would have prepared a press release or read the letter at the start of the meeting.

Speaking of having a flair for drama....Ted's mini tirade last night on the budget woes facing our county was quite interesting. He spoke of financial shortcomings and impending tax hikes to balance budgets. Just two months ago the BoE voted to give away $320,000 in Federal Title I money and they all but guaranteed the replacement of that funding from somewhere. Is there a farm somewhere in the county growing money??

DENNIS HAS BEEN CHARGED!!!

WELL! Looks like someone besides HES parents may be wearing orange in the near future!

So I wonder if Ted will be speaking up to the Newspapers on Dennis's behalf. Somehow he can't spin it as a "partnership disagreement". I imagine Liz will blame HES parents for these charges--she's blamed us for CES being a failing school, so don't laugh at this idea!

Has Dennis been arrested? I cannot believe that the CHAIRMAN OF THE SCHOOL BOARD HAS EMBEZZELED OVER $100,000! WHAT AN EMBARASSMENT!! Did the Board not have a Code of Ethics? Or is that something that is only thrown out to prevent them from telling us the truth? I AM OUTRAGED!! I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MAD I AM!! Another corrupt, elected official that we were told to trust!

The current Board members need to reconsider everything that has happened this last year. Take action now.

Dennis may have rationalized that he was "owed" $115,000 for back wages. Instead of clearing this with management, he may have decided to act on his own and push it through. Arrogance will let you believe that you are entitled to the finer things in life. The only cost to arrogance, however, is freedom.

This is similar to the mess he did with us last year. It made no sense whatsoever to merge CES with HES. He rationalized that HES parents would just shut up and deal with it. He claimed that we were elitists. He made references that we were wealthy. He had other Board members follow suit, but remember, this was his plan. He shamed us for fighting the merger, although we were only fighting for what was best for our children.

It's time to move on. Dennis is no longer here. Unfortunately, his legacy on the Board lives on. Be a man, Ted, and eliminate expelling innocent kids. Let them have their freedom that they are entitled to.

Well...It was Dennis who said "Rest assured, things will change".

At the time, that flew all over me, but now it just seems prophetic.

Liz Brown is nothing but a tried and true crusader for her cause. Her cause is herself. She will lie, cheat, break the law, and she doesn't care who she hurts while smiles.

Don't forget her husband, Greg Britz, is the President of the Education Foundation. You know, the one that collects all the money from the walk and then distributes half to those organizations that meet Liz Brown's social litmus test?

Liz and Greg have corrupted the Education Foundation. Liz has corrupted the Board of Education. And now, her flunky Dennis Whitling, has been brought up on charges of corruption. What is the old saying about birds of a feather? One thing is certain, if you see anyone flying around with Liz, they're bad news for Orange County's school children.

It will be interesting to see the report made in this weeks News of Orange. If this reporter doesn't begin to tell both sides of the story we should all contact the owner of the News of Orange (Womack Publishing) and let him know our concerns and contact those local advertisers that support our cause to pull their advertising:

Charles "Zan" Womack
Chairman of the Board
zwomack@womackpublishing.com
434-432-1654, ext. 15

By the way, whats this I heard about Liz Brown and her request for a softball field at her daughters school (where by the way her daughter plays softball)???

Oh one more comment. I am researching into elected official impeachment/ censure for comments made by Liz Brown and will get back to everyone on what I find out....

Poor Pat Rhodes-I've often asked myself if he had any idea what he was getting into. The messes (because this HES thing is just the tip of the iceberg) left behind by Shirley Carraway 'have only just begun'. I've never seen any one individual destroy a school district like she did. So hang on, Pat, you better fasten your seat belt and get ready for the horror ride of your life. It ain't gonna be pretty...

And this crap about Liz Brown wanting this blog shut down: wake up and smell the coffee, Liz. You're so egotistical you actually think you can deny American citizens the 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom of the press'? Perhaps if you and a few other board members would get your egos out of the way and put the students first, this would get resolved. Until students come first with this Board and this District in general, the students will never be served appropriately.

Liz's desire to have this blog stopped speaks volumes about her clueless, self-absorbed state.

Get real Liz. You give us so much fodder that you would really be better off mute. Do you get how foolish you appear when you speak? How on earth did you graduate from Harvard? Someone asked if they had a dance squad - I doubt it, but that would explain a lot.

Calling Liz clueless is actually an insult to clueless people.

Oh, and I'll be happy to email Womack publishing. I've been meaning to cancel my subscription and this will give me motivation. Thanks for the idea.
