Credit where credit is due

While I may seem to more easily voice my opinion when I find something lacking, I also want to compliment things I feel are done well.

I have recently been very critical of the coverage The News of Orange County has provided throughout the entire HES/CES Merger/Reassignment debacle. In the course of that criticism, I specifically stated that I found the paper's reporting "significantly lacking in both objectivity and journalistic quality."

This time I want to compliment The News of Orange County and its Editor, Casey Ferrell.

Today's article about Monday night's Board of Education meeting is, by far, the best coverage provided by any media outlet. The News provided its readers with the most detailed account of the Board's options for altering HES in an accurate and fair manner, while still capturing the theater of the absurd that was this meeting.

Additionally, Casey's editorial on the lengths the District Staff took to go "above and beyond their call of duty" in an effort to keep as many children as possible at HES was directly on point and strong as well.

Great work, Casey.

I wonder if Casey will do an investigative report on the car accident involving Liz Brown. Liz was backing up in her driveway, probably distracted because of us on the blog, and entered the path of a truck. The truck was damaged, but her car was totalled. Collision insurance will cover it, right? Nope, she doesn't have any! Immediately after the wreck, she blamed the other driver, although it was clearly her fault.

Lots of symbolism in this story. Her "backing up" is symbolic of her "backwards" approach to solving ECES and CES problems. Not taking responsibility? We've all seen this throughout the process.

I can't wait until she blames US for her wreck! Like a fine bottle of wine, Liz's reasoning only get better!

Wow! I'm really sorry I missed this one! What drama! Sounds like the Evil One finally threw off her mask and showed her face (and her "other end" so to speak) in full. Great job to everyone who stuck together on this. I just love it when the Good Guys win... Adios, Dear Liz. You should have ample time now to visit Denis in the clink.

After a year and a half, OrangePolitic.org finally took notice of what is going on in Hillsborough. It is probably because Liz Brown was mentioned in the papers today (OP is biased towards Liz because of her reputation as an Internationlist Bookstore award winner).

Despite it's name, OP is mostly a Chapel Hill/Carrboro-centric blog.

Take a look and feel free to educate the folks down South on the issue.

OrangePolitic.org is run by Ruby Seinrich, a failed politician turned "activist" or the other way around. I wouldn't put too much credence in what she says.
